A house cleaner usually costs $118 to $238 per visit in 2026, with a national average of $176, according to HomeAdvisor's 2026 cost guide. Hourly rates run $25 to $80. Deep cleans cost $200 to $400 and move-out cleans can reach $500. In Warren, Ohio, local wages and listed rates run below the national average, so a fair quote often lands in the lower half of those ranges.
We clean homes and apartments across Trumbull and Mahoning County, and "what's this going to cost?" is the first thing almost everyone asks. This guide pulls the current national numbers from the big pricing sites, adds Warren-specific wage and rate data, and explains what actually moves a quote up or down. How Much Does a House Cleaner Cost per Visit?
In 2026, HomeAdvisor's True Cost Guide, updated June 2026 from a survey of more than 30,000 customers, puts most standard cleanings at $118 to $238 per visit, averaging $176. Thumbtack's 2026 house cleaning cost guide reports a typical range of $185 to $324, and Housecall Pro's October 2026 data shows $140 to $220 for a standard one-time clean.
| Source (2026) | Standard clean, per visit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HomeAdvisor | $118 to $238 (average $176) | Flat rate per visit, updated June 2026 |
| Housecall Pro | $140 to $220 | One-time standard clean, Oct 2026 |
| Thumbtack | $146 to $202 standard; $185 to $324 typical overall | Overall figure mixes job types and sizes |
Why do the ranges differ? Each site measures a different mix of jobs. Thumbtack's overall $185 to $324 includes deep and move-out work, while its standard-only range is $146 to $202. Read the ranges as guardrails. A two-bedroom apartment on a regular schedule lands near the bottom. A four-bedroom house getting its first clean in months lands near the top.
A standard clean usually covers dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchen counters and appliance fronts, and general tidying. Housecall Pro's guide lists that same core list. Inside the oven, inside the fridge and inside cabinets are usually extras, which we cover below.
How Much Do House Cleaners Charge per Hour?
HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide puts house cleaners at $25 to $80 an hour, with an average of $50. It splits that by who you hire: independent cleaners charge about $12 to $25 an hour, while cleaning companies charge $25 to $80. Housecall Pro's 2026 data lists $30 to $80 per cleaner per hour.
Hourly math depends on crew size. Housecall Pro estimates a standard clean of a 2,000-square-foot home takes one cleaner 3 to 4 hours, or two cleaners about 1.5 to 2 hours. HomeAdvisor says a two-person team charges $180 to $300 for a one-time clean.
So is $25 an hour a good rate for house cleaning in Warren? For a solo independent cleaner, it sits at the top of local listed rates, which we break down in the Warren section. For a company, it's at the low end, because the company rate also covers insurance, payroll taxes, supplies and travel.
Most companies, including us, quote a flat price per visit instead of billing by the hour. A flat price set after a walk-through doesn't change if a visit runs long, and the checklist is in writing, so you know what you're paying for.
How Much Does House Cleaning Cost by Home Size?
In 2026, Thumbtack's house cleaning cost guide puts a one-bedroom home at $133 to $174 and a four-bedroom at $191 to $286. HomeAdvisor prices standard cleaning at $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot. Bathrooms matter almost as much as bedrooms, because they take the most time to clean and disinfect.
| Home size | Standard clean (Thumbtack, 2026) | Standard / deep clean (Angi data via Housecall Pro, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 bedroom | $133 to $174 | $75 to $110 / $90 to $130 |
| 2 bedrooms | $136 to $217 | $100 to $150 / $120 to $200 |
| 3 bedrooms | $166 to $250 | $130 to $200 / $150 to $300 |
| 4 bedrooms | $191 to $286 | $150 to $210 / $200 to $420 |
Thumbtack also prices by bathroom count: $139 to $189 for one bathroom and $203 to $274 for three. At HomeAdvisor's $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot, a 1,500-square-foot Warren ranch works out to roughly $150 to $300 for a standard clean. Some companies charge by the room instead. HomeAdvisor reports $30 to $80 per bedroom.
Square footage isn't the whole story in the homes we clean. Clutter, pets and how long it's been since the last clean change the time more than an extra bedroom does. A tidy three-bedroom with no pets can take less time than a two-bedroom with two dogs and a month of buildup. That's why we walk the house before we price it.
What Does a Deep Clean or Move-Out Clean Cost?
HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide puts a deep clean at $200 to $400 per visit, or up to $0.25 per square foot, and says move-out cleaning can reach $500, or up to $0.35 per square foot. Housecall Pro lists move-in and move-out deep cleaning at $220 to $400, and Thumbtack reports $190 to $265 for deep cleaning.
| Type of clean | Typical 2026 price | Typical time (HomeAdvisor, Housecall Pro) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard / regular | $118 to $238 (HomeAdvisor) | 1 to 3 hours |
| Deep clean | $200 to $400 (HomeAdvisor); $180 to $375, average $260 (Angi via Housecall Pro) | 3 to 6 hours |
| Move-in / move-out | Up to $500 (HomeAdvisor); $220 to $400 (Housecall Pro); $200 to $286 (Thumbtack) | 4 to 8 hours |
The price jump comes from time. A deep clean adds baseboards, vents, door frames, window sills, cabinet fronts and scrubbing grout and buildup that a regular visit skips. Our deep cleaning checklist lists every task, room by room.
A move-out clean goes further, inside every cabinet, drawer, closet and appliance, so the next tenant or buyer walks into a clean, empty home. Landlords around Warren often hand tenants a checklist, and the deposit depends on it. Our move-out cleaning checklist covers what landlords look for, and our move-out cleaning service handles rentals and home sales.
If you're starting regular service, expect the first visit to be priced as a deep clean. Housecall Pro's guide recommends exactly that to cleaning companies, and it matches what we do. The first visit resets the house, so every visit after it is shorter and costs less.
Does Cleaning More Often Lower the Price?
Yes, per visit. HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide puts weekly cleaning at $75 to $200 a visit and every-other-week cleaning at $100 to $250. It says many companies drop their rate $5 to $10 per visit for weekly or biweekly service. Thumbtack shows one-time cleans at $174 to $256 versus $160 to $220 every two weeks.
| How often | Typical price per visit (2026) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | $75 to $200 | HomeAdvisor |
| Every 2 weeks | $100 to $250 | HomeAdvisor |
| Every 2 weeks | $160 to $220 | Thumbtack |
| Monthly | $162 to $228 | Thumbtack |
| One-time | $174 to $256 | Thumbtack |
The reason is simple: less builds up between visits. A weekly crew wipes and resets. A monthly crew is digging out soap scum, pet hair and kitchen grease, which takes longer. Weekly service costs more per month in total, but each visit costs less.
HomeAdvisor calls every other week one of the most popular schedules, and it's the one we recommend most often for busy families. Monthly works well for smaller homes, homes without pets, or people who keep up with daily tidying and want a professional reset.
What Do Add-Ons Like Ovens, Fridges, Windows and Carpet Cost?
Housecall Pro's 2026 national data puts inside-oven cleaning at $30 to $50, inside-refrigerator cleaning at $31 to $100 and interior cabinets at $75 to $230. An extra bedroom or bathroom adds $30 to $60. Window and carpet cleaning are usually quoted as separate services, priced per window or per room.
| Add-on | Typical 2026 price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Inside oven | $30 to $50 | Housecall Pro |
| Inside refrigerator | $31 to $100 | Housecall Pro |
| Interior cabinets | $75 to $230 | Housecall Pro |
| Extra bedroom or bathroom | $30 to $60 | Housecall Pro |
| Window cleaning (whole home) | $184 to $387, most pay about $266 | Thumbtack |
| Carpet cleaning | $40 to $125 per room | Housecall Pro |
Carpet cleaning is a different job from vacuuming. It uses hot water extraction equipment and takes its own visit. If you're pricing it, our guide to carpet cleaning cost in Warren breaks it down, and our carpet cleaning service can be scheduled the same week as a deep clean. Exterior and interior glass is covered by our window cleaning service.
One money saver from Thumbtack's guide: providing your own supplies can cut $5 to $10 per cleaning. Ask first, though. Many companies prefer their own products and equipment.
Is House Cleaning Cheaper in Warren, Ohio?
Usually, yes. In October 2026, Care.com listed house cleaners in Warren, Ohio starting at $17.93 an hour, compared with $20.00 statewide and $21.57 nationally. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data for the Youngstown-Warren metro shows the same gap. Because labor is the biggest part of any cleaning price, lower local wages mean lower local prices.
| Area | Mean hourly wage, maids and housekeeping cleaners (BLS, May 2025) | Care.com listed starting rate (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Youngstown-Warren metro / Warren | $14.38 | $17.93 |
| Ohio | $15.68 | $20.00 |
| United States | $17.83 | $21.57 |
In the May 2025 Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics release, the BLS reported a mean wage of $14.38 an hour for maids and housekeeping cleaners in the Youngstown-Warren metro, about 19% below the $17.83 national mean. The metro median was $14.02, versus $17.07 nationally. The BLS counts about 950 maids and housekeeping cleaners working in the metro.
Care.com's figures are what cleaners list on the site, so they show going rates for independent cleaners. Its Warren range runs from $17.93 to $24.80 an hour. Company rates run higher than wages because they include insurance, taxes, supplies and travel.
In practice, a fair Warren or Youngstown quote for a standard clean often lands at or below the middle of the national ranges in this guide. If a local quote is at the very top for a basic two- or three-bedroom home, ask what's included. Sometimes the answer is inside appliances or a deep first visit, and sometimes it's just a high price.
Should You Hire an Independent Cleaner or an Insured, Bonded Company?
Independent cleaners cost less per hour: $12 to $25, compared with $25 to $80 for companies, according to HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide. The difference pays for insurance, bonding, backup staff and supplies. HomeAdvisor advises asking either one for proof that they're bonded and insured, because that protects you if something breaks or someone gets hurt in your home.
| Independent cleaner | Insured and bonded company | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical hourly rate (HomeAdvisor, 2026) | $12 to $25 | $25 to $80 |
| Damage or injury in your home | Depends on whether they carry their own insurance | Covered by the company's insurance and bond |
| Sick days and vacations | Usually no cleaning that week | Company sends a trained replacement |
| Supplies and equipment | Varies | Usually brought by the crew |
| Taxes and paperwork | May be on you (see IRS rule below) | Handled by the company |
There's a tax angle too. The IRS says in Publication 926 that housecleaning workers can be household employees. If you control what work is done and how, and pay one worker $3,000 or more in cash wages in 2026, you owe Social Security and Medicare taxes. If an agency or company provides the worker and controls the work, the worker isn't your employee.
An independent cleaner can be a great fit for light upkeep in a small home. A company makes more sense when you want consistent coverage, a written checklist, a crew that shows up even when someone is sick, and one call to make if anything goes wrong.
How to Compare House Cleaning Quotes
Two quotes can look far apart and cover very different work. Before you compare the numbers, line up the scope. These are the questions we'd ask if we were hiring a cleaner for our own home:
- Is the price flat per visit or hourly, and how many cleaners are coming?
- Is there a written checklist of what gets cleaned every visit?
- Is the first visit priced as a deep clean?
- Are inside the oven, fridge and cabinets included or extra?
- Are supplies and equipment included?
- Is the company insured and bonded, and can they show proof?
- Will the same cleaner or crew come every visit?
- What happens if something is missed, and who do you call?
- Is there a recurring discount for weekly or every-other-week service?
HomeAdvisor also notes that for one-time jobs, many people tip 10% to 20%, and recurring clients often give a holiday bonus instead of a tip every visit. Budget for that if you're comparing a one-time deep clean against regular service.

A free walk-through is the best way to plan your cleaning. These are the questions we hear most from Valley homeowners.
How much does a house cleaner cost per visit?
HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide puts a standard house cleaning at $118 to $238 per visit, with a national average of $176. Housecall Pro reports $140 to $220 for a one-time standard clean. Deep cleans cost more, about $200 to $400, and move-out cleans can reach $500 depending on home size and condition.
How long does it take to clean a 2,000 square foot house?
Housecall Pro estimates a standard clean of a 2,000-square-foot home takes one cleaner 3 to 4 hours, or two cleaners about 1.5 to 2 hours. HomeAdvisor and Housecall Pro both say deep cleans take 3 to 6 hours and move-out cleans 4 to 8 hours, because they include inside appliances, cabinets and baseboards.
Is $25 an hour good for house cleaning in Warren, Ohio?
For an independent cleaner, yes. Care.com listed Warren cleaners at $17.93 to $24.80 an hour in October 2026, and the BLS reported a $14.38 mean wage for maids and housekeeping cleaners in the Youngstown-Warren metro. For a company, $25 an hour is low, since company rates of $25 to $80 also cover insurance, taxes and supplies.
How much does a deep house cleaning cost?
A deep house cleaning costs $200 to $400 per visit, or up to $0.25 per square foot, according to HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide. Angi data cited by Housecall Pro shows a $180 to $375 range with a $260 average. Deep cleans cover baseboards, vents, cabinet fronts, grout and heavy buildup a regular visit skips.
Is it cheaper to have a house cleaned weekly or monthly?
Weekly is cheaper per visit but costs more per month. HomeAdvisor puts weekly visits at $75 to $200 and every-other-week visits at $100 to $250, while Thumbtack shows monthly cleans at $162 to $228. Less buildup between visits means less time per visit, and many companies take $5 to $10 off recurring service.
Should I hire an independent house cleaner or a company?
Independent cleaners charge about $12 to $25 an hour versus $25 to $80 for companies, per HomeAdvisor. A company's rate covers insurance, bonding, replacement staff and supplies. Under IRS Publication 926, a cleaner you directly control and pay $3,000 or more in 2026 can be your household employee, which brings tax paperwork.
